When films make or break a studio

With Quentin Tarantino’s latest film Inglorious Basterds about to hit cinemas, one man in particular will be watching how well it does at the box office – Harvey Weinstein.

Harvey Weinstein, head of the film studio The Weinstein Company, has a lot riding on this film. In recent years, the company has been besieged with rumours that it is bankrupt and doesn’t have enough cash to properly promote or distribute its upcoming films after a string of box office failures.

The Evolution of the Superhero Movie [Infographic]

After Richard Donner’s Superman became the first superhero movie to receive a wide release in 1978, Hollywood began to look at superheroes in a different light. No longer were comic books simply a collector’s item for geeks and dweeboids. Rather, they became an opportunity to market to the masses, complete with ready-made franchises and Happy Meal product integrations.
