Toyota recalls across the world: full list so far

When Toyota took over from General Motors as the world largest producer of motor vehicles in 2007 it was largely thanks to a reputation for durability that had been forged over decades. Toyota’s brand values have little to do with excitement or driving pleasure and everything to do with the comforting knowledge that this car will get you from A to B with a minimum of fuss and bother.

A Global History of Debt: National Debts Rise and Fall in the Last 10 Years

We all read about the U.S. national debt, and whether we should be concerned that it’s in the $12 trillion range these days. But the United States isn’t the only country carrying a huge amount of debt. In fact, it seems that operating just about any country is a money losing proposition.

According to the CIA’s Worldbank data, the majority of countries carry huge sums of national debt. And for most countries – although there are exceptions – that debt is constantly rising.

Where is America’s Debt? [Infographic]

America’s collective debt, also called the national debt or the public debt, represents the money that the U.S. government owes to the owners of debt instruments that are issued by the U.S. treasury. There are several types of debt instruments issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. All of these items are collectively called treasuries.

America has always had debt. Since the 18th century, the country has carried a load of debt that has fluctuated with the political and social climate of the day. In 1860, America’s debt was $65 million. The Civil War brought about a major spike in the debt. World War I and World War II also brought about major rises in the debt. The latest American debt numbers have put it at its steepest numbers since the debt level spiked during World War II.

Whats Changed This Decade 1999-2009 [Infographic]

Sometimes it’s great to look back and see what has happened in the last ten years. The last 10 years from 1999-2009 has seen some dramatic changes, demographic shifts, and rapid proliferation of internet technologies. We have also seen the balance of power begin to shift internationally as foreign countries have grown their economies and we have increased our national debt. Let’s have a look at some numbers to demonstrate the significance of these changes.

Since 1999, 23 million people in American have gotten married and sadly already 12 million of those marriages have ended in divorce. Another interesting fact is that of those 23 million marriages 80,000 were same sex marriages.
