Bank hacking: is it on the rise? [Infographic]

At the end of August, bank hacker Ehud Tenenbaum was photographed leaving court, having pleaded guilty to a single count of bank-card fraud. Tenenbaum, who is Iraeli by birth, had been arrested in Canada last year for allegedly stealing roughly $1.5 million in a bank hacking scheme. But before Canadian authorities could prosecute him, he was extradited back to the United States. Now he pleads guilty to having played a major role in a sophisticated computer-hacking scheme that officials believe scored $10 million from US banks.

Making the grade: Best jobs in the US [Infographic]

You might think that determining what makes a job “great” is pretty easy, but the truth is there are so many factors that could play a role – from exceptional rates of pay, to superior growth prospects, to employee perks and benefits – that finding one definition often isn’t as easy as it might first appear.

In fact, while for many workers the paycheck is the be all and end all, for others a sense that the work they are doing is more “meaningful” holds the key to job satisfaction.

And that’s before you factor in issues pertaining to how organizations can match the needs of different generations of employees, a common challenge for HR managers.

Take a look at Fortune magazine’s 100 Best Companies To Work For list for 2009, for instance, which demonstrates how, even in this economy, some companies are going out of their way to please employees.

Global Map of Social Web [Infographic]

As part of a new series of infographics we have created a global map of social web involvement. We wanted to provide a clear visualisation of the way in which the world adopts social technologies differently. The map visualises the number of active bloggers, social networkers, video sharers, photo uploaders and microbloggers. The length of the curve represents the penetration and the size represents the universe size. We have also included the actual numbers so you can use and apply the universe estimates.

How Long Would You Have to Work to Earn as Much as a Top CEO?

The pay gap between executives and the average American worker has always been pretty big, and seems to have increased as the world’s economy grows. But with the recent recession bringing the most desperate financial conditions the world has seen since the Great Depression, one could be excused for expecting this gap to be reduced.

However, the recession has only served to make things tougher for the American workforce as unemployment recently hit a 26-year high and companies made drastic cuts to salaries and working hours.
