The top 10 languages used on the Internet include the most popular Internet language-English, with 478 million users. Chinese is the second most common Internet language, with 384 million users. Spanish is the third most common Internet language, with 137 million users. Japanese is number four, with 96 million users. French is number five with 79 million Internet users using it. Portuguese is number six with 73 million users. German is number seven with 65 million users. Arabic is number eight with 50 million Internet users using it online. Russian is number nine with 45 million Internet users using it. Korean is number 10 with 37 million Internet users.

With the UK elections fast approaching I thought it would be interesting to take a look at how well the major UK political parties were using social media to connect with voters.
With Barack Obama famously using social media to court the youth vote in the US elections, social media is now a viable platform for politicians to connect with people on a large scale.
All of the UK parties are maintaining a social media presence, with Facebook pages, Twitter and YouTube accounts prominently linked from their respective websites. To take a snapshot of activity and a gauge of its success I recorded the following metrics,

Target Markets : Ad Spending Across Four Benchmark Sites
There’s no secret that different types of websites attract different levels and types of advertisers – but the variance is rarely elaborated upon. For instance, Facebook’s top 100 advertisers spend $49,045,000 per month, while the top 100 advertisers of IMDB ($7,217,400), CNET ($3,094,000), and NYTimes($7,128,500) combined spend about 1/3 ($17,740,000) that of Facebook. This of course addresses the levels of ad revenue by popular sites, and is just one of the findings from the most recent Nielsen AdRelevance report. Of special note are AT&T’s spending trends, and the rate at which this brand has invested online, especially in the four sites included in the study.
