STD Risk Factors [Infographic]

There are many factors that affect those at risk for contracting an STD.  Many times individuals don’t know or understand which things put them at risk of infection.  Some STD’s can be transmitted in surprising ways.  For those at risk, regular comprehensive testing can help prevent unintended transmissions.  Further, early diagnosis of some STD’s can greatly improve treatment options and avoid hassles associated with full blown infection.  This is a sensitive subject matter.

Map of the Internet [Infographic]

Hosting provider Peer1 decided to get all geeky ahead of South by Southwest and created what it’s calling the Map of the Internet. Unlike cute maps showing web sites or personal viewpoints, this map illustrates what ISP is connected to what Internet Exchange or university network across a vast array of networks stretching around the world. It’s pretty sweet to look at, and Peer1 is handing out posters of the map at SXSW for the truly nerdy (I’d put it next to my spectrum-allocation charts).

Rajan Sodhi, VP of marketing  and communications at PEER 1, said the map was created using data from the Cooperative Association for Internet Data Analysis and contains information on 19,869 web players connected by 44,344 connections. The size of the nodes and the thickness of the lines indicates the size of those particular providers and their connections. Check Google at I8 or Verizon at F15.

Literacy Rate & Girl Child Population of India [Infographic]

The Indian Census 2011 Provisional report revealed a shocking fact of decreasing number of Girl Child (914 per 1,000 boys) than previous Census 2001(927 per 1,000 boys). It is an alarming sign, mentioned by all the media and progressive thinkers. Some blames the social structure for that, some the education. No I’m not starting a debate on it but somehow we have to look after the matter or at least think on it. So I started digging on it in my own way with the help of an online friend Reuben, who has very keen interest on census and try to keep himself indulged in social matters like this.
