Converging Devices, Connecting Lives [Infographic]

As we saw at our recent #ShiftNYC event, the unprecedented amount of information, connectivity, energy and creativity taking place is redefining how we interact in our personal and professional lives. Our home and work lives are converging as technologies, tools and trends have shifted the way we live and work — we’re experiencing a #shift to ONE LIFE. The changing workforce dynamic is in a continual state of evolution. To help bring this idea to life, we developed the following infographic to highlight this pivotal point in history.

Map of the Internet [Infographic]

Hosting provider Peer1 decided to get all geeky ahead of South by Southwest and created what it’s calling the Map of the Internet. Unlike cute maps showing web sites or personal viewpoints, this map illustrates what ISP is connected to what Internet Exchange or university network across a vast array of networks stretching around the world. It’s pretty sweet to look at, and Peer1 is handing out posters of the map at SXSW for the truly nerdy (I’d put it next to my spectrum-allocation charts).

Rajan Sodhi, VP of marketing  and communications at PEER 1, said the map was created using data from the Cooperative Association for Internet Data Analysis and contains information on 19,869 web players connected by 44,344 connections. The size of the nodes and the thickness of the lines indicates the size of those particular providers and their connections. Check Google at I8 or Verizon at F15.

The History of Skateboarding [Infographic]

Skateboarding has had one of the most unique and and turbulent histories of any sport (or hobby) in the history of North America.

The sport has gone from grass root home-made boards, to being one of the most popular sports in the USA, only to crash into oblivion before resurfacing as a past time for punks and kids up to no good. Despite the changing point of view of popular opinion, the sport has held a core of devotees who kept the sport alive when it seemed all but forgotten.
